All-new Audi R8 debuts at Geneva
The new R8 V10 is the most powerful and fastest series-production Audi of all time.
Their new supercar is newly developed from the ground up using Audi’s very successful
Motorsport DNA and expertise.

The new R8 comes with a V10 engine in two different flavors. You can have the 5.2 FSI
mid mounted V10 in either a 540 hp version or an even more exciting 610 hp version
available in the Audi R8 V10 plus.  The more powerful version can accelerate from 0-
100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 330 km/h (205.1 mph).

A 7-speed S Tronic transmission and a newly developed quattro drive system will put
the power down. The quattro system can transfer up to 100 percent of the torque to the
front or rear axle depending on the driving conditions.

The lightweight construction in the new R8 uses Audi’s multimaterial Space Frame
(combination of aluminum and carbon fiber reinforced plastics) for a total dry weight of
only 1,454 kilograms (3,205.5 lb). Despite its low weight the car is packed with a lot of
extra equipment and weights up to 50 kilograms (110.2 lb) less than the outgoing R8.

The car looks the way an R8 should look; Audi calls their design flat, wide and
muscular. The interior is designed to make the driver feel like if it were sitting in a race
car.  All functions are driver oriented without ever having to take your hands off the
steering wheel.

One of the most interesting things about the new R8 is that customers can request to
purchase an all-electric version called the Audi R8 e-tron.  The electrically powered
high performance sports car uses a battery with a capacity of 92 kWh with an electric
range of 450 kilometers (279.6 mi) that can be fully charged in less than two hours.
The R8 e-tron can accelerate to 62.1 mph in 3.9 seconds.  Although the car will be
used primarily as a “mobile high-tech laboratory” to gather data and experience for
future vehicles, Audi is willing to hand-build you one given the right price.

Sales of the new Audi R8 start in summer 2015. Prices are 165,000 euros for the R8
V10 and 187,400 euros for the top-of-the-range version R8 V10 plus.
